The Town of Fort Fairfield, Maine, is currently soliciting resumes for the position of Town Manager.  Fort Fairfield is a community of 3500, with a Council/Manager form of government, an annual budget of $3.0 million excluding schools, and 20 full-time employees.  The Town Council is seeking an individual with personnel management and labor relations experience, strong successful economic development experience, strong financial management and budgeting skills, and good communications skills.  The successful Manager candidate should be a creative problem solver with the ability to work as a team member, and demonstrate flexibility and openness in the performance of their job.

Candidates should possess at least 5 years of progressively responsible management experience.  The Town Council would prefer a candidate with municipal management experience and a degree in Public or Business Administration, however, individuals with equivalent experience and education are encouraged to apply.

The Town of Fort Fairfield, Maine is accepting applications for Deputy Town Clerk.

The Deputy assists the Town Clerk in the issuance of licenses and permits, recording documents and vital statistics, and maintenance of records. The individual in this position also serves as General Assistance Administrator and Registrar of Voters.
Applicants must be high school graduates, and should have experience in general office work, working with the public, proficiency in typing/word processing and the use of computers. The successful candidate must be able to work independently as well as with others, be self-motivated, have great communication and organizational skills, and a keen attention to detail.

This is a full-time position which offers a great benefits package that includes: Health Insurance, Retirement Plan, Paid Holidays and Vacation. Salary commensurate with experience

The Town of Fort Fairfield, Public Works Department is acceptingbids on a 1999 Dodge Pickup, in as is, where is condition.  There is no warranty on the vehicle.  The vehicle can be viewed by contacting Kevin Senal at 207-554-9952.   

In order to be considered as a valid bid, bid documents shall be sealed and clearly marked on the outside envelope “Bid for 1999 Dodge Pickup” and include the name of the company or person submitting the bid.  Bids for the 1999 Dodge Pickup will be received until 4:00 PM, on August 3, 2018 at the Town of Fort Fairfield Municipal Building, 18 Community Center Drive, Fort Fairfield, ME 04742, at which time they will be opened and read aloud.  The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids.


The Town Council of Fort Fairfield announced today that Michael Bosse has resigned as Town Manager effective in a May-June time frame. 

In his statement, Bosse explained, “My decision to resign was finalized after long and careful consideration. For me, my heart and interest has always been with working in the private sector and business, and it is my intent to return to my passion.” Bosse, an employee of Fort Fairfield for five years, was originally hired as the Marketing Director for the community in 2010 and became Town Manager after Dan Foster retired in December 2013. You can read Michael Bosse's resignation letter to the Council by clicking here.

The Fort Fairfield Town Council has entered into an agreement with the Maine Municipal Association for Town Manager/Executive search services. Those services include Needs Assessment, Development of Candidate Profile, Advertising Options, Acceptance of General Citizen Input, Recruitment, Candidate Review, Interview and Selection.  It is the Council’s hope that a suitable replacement can occur prior to Bosse’s departure in late May.

“Mike’s resignation was unexpected,” stated Jason Barnes, Council Chair. “He has been an exemplary employee and has had an integral role in securing of funds for the Senior Housing Project, the Health Clinic, the development of the Quality of Place Council and implementation of Fort Fairfield’s Economic Development Investment Strategy, the HOMEBuyer Program, the Fort Kids First Program and Windmill Technical Review Committee. Mike’s work and keen sense to problem solve was instrumental in his day to day role, the success of the Agri-Business Trade Fair and continuation of the long running Maine Potato Blossom Festival. He will be missed and the council certainly wishes him the best.”

The Town of Fort Fairfield is a 72 square mile double township, has a population of 3500 people with a $4.7 million dollar budget. The Town Manager serves as the chief administrative officer and head of the administrative branch of the Town Government. In addition to the day-to-day administrative responsibilities the Manager's office is also responsible for compiling and submitting the municipal budget to the Council and once adopted, the Manager is responsible for the administration of the budget.
